Striking door heights and natural oak
In this family home in České Budějovice, exceptionally tall interior doors from the Wippro Limited Edition were installed. With a door leaf height of almost 2.40 metres, the doors make a clear architectural statement through their dimensions alone.
The selected surface is knotty oak with a natural lacquer finish. The lively wood structure with visible knots and individual grain patterns creates a warm contrast with the white walls and light stone flooring.
The result is a modern door design that combines clean technical detailing with the natural character of oak.
Doors almost 2.40 metres high
With an external door leaf dimension of 823 × 2387 mm, the doors are significantly taller than standard dimensions.
This height is particularly effective in the long hallway. The repeated large-format door surfaces give the corridor a clear rhythm and emphasise the spacious architecture of the house.
Despite their striking dimensions, the doors do not appear heavy. Their slim proportions and clean lines give the elements an elegant and balanced appearance.
Knotty oak – every door leaf is unique
The knotty oak was deliberately used as a visible design feature in this project.
Knots, natural colour variations and differing grain patterns remain visible, which means that no two door leaves are exactly alike.
The surface is finished with a natural lacquer. This preserves the characteristic appearance of the oak while also providing the wood with a durable and easy-care surface.
The horizontal grain direction is particularly interesting. It visually divides the tall door surface and creates an appealing counterpoint to the vertical orientation of the doors.
Flush-closing for clean lines
The solid-core doors were designed as flush-closing doors.
When closed, the door leaf sits flush with the frame. A traditional door rebate is not visible from the outside, and the outline of the door is defined only by a narrow, even joint.
Especially with door leaves almost 2.40 metres high, this construction supports the calm and high-quality overall appearance.
Wood, proportions and surface take centre stage – the technology remains visually discreet.
Softline solid wood frame
To match the door leaves, the elements were fitted with a solid wood frame in profile B “Softline”.
The frame forms a deliberately visible border around the door leaf and features the same natural oak appearance. This creates a harmonious transition between the lively wood surface and the simple white wall areas.
The Softline design combines a clear, modern appearance with the natural character of the wood.
To ensure that the clean appearance of the doors is not interrupted by visible hinges, each door leaf was fitted with three TECTUS 340 3D hinges.
When the door is closed, the hinges are completely concealed. Especially with flush-closing doors, this detail contributes significantly to the minimalist appearance.
At the same time, three-dimensional adjustment allows precise alignment of the large door leaves – an important technical detail for elements of this size.
CLUDO magnetic latch lock
A discreet solution was also chosen for the locking mechanism.
A CLUDO BB magnetic latch lock is used. The elements were designed without a keyhole, keeping the area around the door handle especially clean and uncluttered.
The dark, linear door handles create a deliberate contrast with the warm oak and reflect the modern design language of the house.
A consistent door concept throughout the house
The special effect of this reference project is created above all by the interaction of several doors.
The tall oak surfaces repeat along the hallway. Dimensions, frames, fittings and construction follow a consistent design concept.
At the same time, the natural grading of the oak ensures that every door leaf has its own character. From a distance, the result is a calm and coherent overall appearance – up close, the different knots, textures and grain patterns become visible.
In this way, individuality and design consistency are combined within a cohesive door concept.
Modern door technology meets characterful natural wood
The project in České Budějovice shows how a technically minimalist door construction can be combined with an expressive wood surface.
Flush-closing door leaves, concealed TECTUS hinges and magnetic latch locks form the modern technical basis. The knotty oak with a natural lacquer finish brings warmth and individuality into the rooms.
