Wippro Danburit Alpin 3B for an Alpine chalet in Kraubath an der Mur

Sun-weathered reclaimed spruce for authentic Alpine architecture

For this private building project in Kraubath an der Mur in Styria, a secondary residence – a characterful Alpine chalet – was fitted with a new front door from the Wippro Alpin Edition.

The choice was the Danburit Alpin model with the distinctive reclaimed spruce 3B, oiled surface.

Especially with an existing Alpine chalet, a new front door should not look out of place. For this reason, a surface was chosen that reflects the original character of the building and blends harmoniously with the naturally aged timber façade.

Reclaimed spruce 3B – sun-weathered, heavily steamed and heavily brushed

The reclaimed spruce 3B surface is a particularly characterful option within the Wippro Alpin Edition.

Wippro describes this surface as sun-weathered reclaimed timber boards, heavily steamed and heavily brushed. For this project, the surface was additionally oiled.

The result is a lively wood surface with a visible history. Variations in colour, knots, grain patterns and the patina created by ageing and weather exposure are not imperfections, but essential characteristics of the material.

For the Alpin Edition, Wippro uses genuine reclaimed wood, including timber from old floors, hay barns and roof structures. The surfaces, weathered over many years, are reused and given a new purpose as a front door. Because wood is a natural material and every piece of reclaimed timber is different, each surface is unique.

This individuality is particularly well suited to an Alpine chalet, where natural materials and existing timber structures define the appearance of the building.

A new front door that does not have to look “new”

What makes this project special is the interaction between the existing building fabric and the new front door.

The façade of the Alpine chalet already has a distinctive timber appearance that has developed naturally over the years. The sun-weathered reclaimed spruce 3B reflects this character.

As a result, there is no harsh visual break between the old chalet and the new building element. Instead, the Danburit Alpin deliberately blends into the traditional Alpine architecture.

Especially for Alpine chalets, holiday homes, secondary residences, farmhouses and buildings in an Alpine style, genuine reclaimed wood offers attractive possibilities for combining modern front-door technology with an authentic appearance.

Glazed section brings daylight into the entrance area

For this project, the Danburit Alpin was designed with a vertical glazed section.

This visually breaks up the solid reclaimed wood surface and allows additional daylight to enter the entrance area behind the door.

At the same time, the traditional door hardware emphasises the Alpine character and was deliberately selected to complement the overall design.

The result is a balanced combination of reclaimed wood, glass and traditional hardware.

Modern front-door technology behind a traditional appearance

Although the authentic reclaimed wood appearance takes centre stage with this front door, its construction is that of a modern Wippro front door.

Wippro front doors from the Alpin Edition combine a characterful reclaimed wood surface layer with a modern front-door construction. Depending on the model and configuration, various options are available for glazing, fittings, locking systems and security features.

Especially for a secondary residence or Alpine chalet that may not be occupied permanently, burglary protection should be considered when planning a new front door.

The specific security equipment is selected to suit the respective door configuration and the customer’s requirements.

Personal consultation by Wippro

For this project, the consultation was provided directly by Wippro.

Especially when renovating an existing Alpine chalet, an individual assessment is important. Which surface best matches the existing façade? How should the new front door be designed? What technical requirements need to be met? And which dimensions are required due to the existing building structure?

Together with the customer, a solution was selected that preserves the traditional character of the building as effectively as possible while making use of the possibilities offered by a custom-made Wippro front door.

On-site measurement by the Wippro field sales team

The measurements were also taken on site in Kraubath an der Mur by the Wippro field sales team.

With existing buildings and renovation projects, standard dimensions cannot simply be assumed. The existing wall opening and the actual structural conditions therefore need to be recorded as accurately as possible.

These measurements then form the basis for the custom production of the front door.

In this project, personal consultation, professional on-site measurement and custom manufacturing by Wipprotherefore work seamlessly together.

Alpin Edition – genuine reclaimed wood with a history

The Wippro Alpin Edition demonstrates that a modern front door does not necessarily have to appear smooth, uniform or industrial.

It is precisely the visible traces of the material that make the difference. Wippro explicitly points out that variations caused by weathering and the natural character of the wood occur in its reclaimed wood surfaces and that every surface is unique.

With reclaimed spruce 3B, the sun-weathered appearance is particularly pronounced. The heavy brushing further highlights the natural texture, while the oiled finish emphasises the wooden character of the front door.

This reference project in Kraubath an der Mur shows the result: a custom-made front door that is technically new while blending so naturally with the existing Alpine chalet that it looks as though it has always been part of the building.
